Month of Movement

Hello friends! Thanks again for taking the time to read!
I want to talk a little bit about movement, since my thoughts on movement have recently taken a bit of a turn!
I work in the rural sector, so that's a pretty physical job, and most days, I feel that's adequate "excercise." However, since joining the Healthstyle Emporium, I've learned about "conscious movement," which most days at work are not! Work is usually just that: work. And even though I might be walking, running, lifting or climbing, it's usually not done in a conscious manner to engage certain muscles or work on anything in particular... you just do what needs to be done and that's it! So when it comes to conscious movement, or a structured workout schedule, I really wasnt sure where to start.
I think most people, when they take stock of their health and decide they want to change something, they go get a gym membership, right?
I'm not so sure! I think there's a lot of fear associated in putting yourself out there in that way. So much so that a lot of people will instead put it off, until the next new years resolution rolls around! I know for myself, that even if I lived closer than an hour and a half to the nearest town and going to a gym was even an option for me, that there's no way I'd be brave enough to walk into a gym and start exercising when I have no clue what I'm doing!
Cue the market of online home workouts, fitness apps, and various other programs, that were already prevalent, but have been popping up everywhere since we all become isolated at home! The program I use and love, The Healthstyle Emporium, also has a comprehensive home workout guide... which I've been too scared to use!!
To begin with, I thought I didn't need to excercise because I was active enough at work. Then, after I started doing some mindfulness and meditation activities, and learned about CONSCIOUS movement, I started to think maybe something was missing from the physical activity I was doing at work. And then, the workout guide got released, and I was too darn scared to get started!
I know it's silly, but like in starting anything new, I was terrified of failing - but like, who would even know!? Working out from home, and going at my own pace, and no one would even know if I stuffed up, or didn't know how to do something properly! But anyway, something was holding me back... and then, the most amazing announcement!!!
One of the wellness coaches in the Healthstyle Emporium had just completed her personal training certificate, and she was offering free sessions to all active clients right through June! Well I had no more excuses now! Now I could start exercising with the help and guidance of a qualified PT who could show me how to do each excercise in a correct and safe manner so that I wouldn t hurt myself, and also remind me which muscles I was engaging, so that I could be conscious in my movement!
I've already learned so much, like how to do a squat correctly, what a burpee actually is, and the difference between dynamic and static stretching and the importance of warming up with dynamic stretches and cooling down with static stretches! As a kid, at school sports and the like, I would always end up so sore from the physical activity because I didn't understand how to warm up and cool down my body properly. I guess that's another thing that held me back from wanting to work out - is there anything worse than hobbling around with tight muscles the day after an active day?? Now though, I feel strong! My muscles are sore from the workouts, but I can still function normally, and can feel my muscles repairing themselves and strengthening from the workouts and proper techniques of warm up and cool down!
I am loving working out with such a high vibing group of women, all from the comfort of our own homes, and I'm loving learning the limits of my body, and can't wait to be fit and strong at the end of the month! Fit and strong enough, both mentally and physically, to continue working out once I'm relying on my own motivation and drive again.
Life has a way of putting things in your path to call you out on all your excuses, and this was it for me! I'm committing myself to the whole month of training, and on top of that, I'm balancing out the excercise days with days for gentle yoga using the HSE's yoga challenge!
No more excuses over here, June is the month of movement for me, and for all my clients too - and the best part is, there's also free sessions up for grabs for my friends and followers! So if you're interested in taking a look at the program, there's a total of four sessions up for grabs; please message me to get access to your free session with a qualified personal trainer, to see if the HSE could be a fit for you on your health journey!
