The Glamour of Busy

Hello hello! Thank you for sparing a minute from your 'busy' day to read this! The word busy is kind of funny; it's become almost glamorous to be 'too busy.' But why?? Why is it a good thing to be too busy to spend time doing what you love, or too busy to catch up with an old friend, or too busy to take 15 minutes for yourself here and there? And don't get me wrong, I've fallen into the trap too! "Oh, I'm too busy." "I don't have enough time." "Its good to be busy." Well, yes, but it's also good to have balance; to have friendship and laughter and free time! There's a lot in the mindset of 'busy.' If you've read some my previous blogs you'll get where I'm coming from when I say you are what you always think. If your whole mindset towards life is 'busy,' where do you draw the line? At what point is it okay to relax, or take time out?? Often we don't take the time to stop, and then burn out, exhaustion, unhappiness; the list goes on! I hate being busy! I'd much rather my life was full, than busy. The truth is, everyone has full lives; we're trying to juggle so many balls, and sometimes we drop a few. Isn't it a shame though, that the ones we drop are sometimes family, or health, rather than the job that doesn't pay enough, or the toxic relationship we really should step away from? It's something I hear a lot; mostly, people are just too busy to change their situation. And I get it, i really do! I was busy once, and my life is still way more full than I want it to be, but I'm working towards that change! One of the first mindset blocks I came up against after I started my online business was "I'm too busy, I don't have time for this." And it didn't help that I had hubby in my ear about it too, since all of a sudden I couldn't keep on top of the washing through the week, and the dishes weren't magically doing themselves any more... so I was "too busy." I felt like I didn't have time for this new venture, as much as I wanted to. But ultimately I thought; if nothing changes, nothing changes! Even though I'm still working full time, and on the surface, my life is still the same - if anything, more full because I've added my side hustle - I'm 8 month's in front of where I was in October! If I hadn't said yes back then, I wouldn't be 8 month's towards building a replacement income for when I go part time in a couple months. I wouldn't be 8 month's into the most incredible journey of self discovery and personal development. And I definitely wouldn't have made all the amazing friends that I have now, because there's no way I would have gotten out of my comfort zone enough to make new friends if it hadn't been for my business! So I'm 'busy,' but I also have more time than I anticipated I would! I have time to do a morning and night skincare routine, I have time to cook and enjoy nutritious food, I have time to dedicate an hour or two to my online business each day, I have time to learn new things, and to finally try things like yoga and meditation and practise with some regularity! All things that I had been wanting to get into but "didn't have the time for" before I started my online business! Go figure, right!? Busy is a mindset, just as abundance is a mindset. So when you find yourself saying "I'm too busy," catch yourself, and ask are you really too busy, or are you just not willing to prioritise that right now?? A busy mindset means you will never have time for the things that light you up; an abundance mindset means you will always have time for the things that you want and need to be happy in life! Our mindset can be the key to the life we want, or the biggest threat to our happiness - it all depends on how you think! I, for one, am so thankful for a full life, because it means I finally have time to do the things that light me up!
